New Retail Electricity Supply Model in Kazakhstan
- Effective Date: January 1, 2025
- Overview: Retail electricity supply will be carried out exclusively by licensed Regional Power Grid Companies (RECs) that meet statutory legal requirements.
Key Changes
- Unregulated Energy Supply Organizations (NESOs) are ceasing operations.
- Supply Functions are fully transferred to licensed RECs.
- SME Tariff Reductions: Tariffs for small and medium-sized businesses have been reduced across 12 regions by an average of 11.62% (-4.39 KZT).
- Legal Basis: Law signed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 8, 2024.
